Our journey into the world of FMT began with our director Saffron Cassaday. Saffron has suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for the past 10 years. In the years since her diagnosis, Saffron has tried all sorts of diets and medications to get her disease under control. In Designer Shit, she reckons with whether or not to start FMT at home, against the wishes of her doctor. She decides to do her research by meeting with some of the top experts on fecal transplants and the microbiome. In the film she covers how Fecal Transplants are being used to treat her illness, as well as a whole host microbiome-related illnesses from obesity to Autism.
In the blog, we’ll be bringing you all the latest on FMT, including news and studies from the medical community. We’ll also keep you up to date with Saffron’s journey with Colitis and FMT.
